Led by Robert Peters, the workshops will provide a platform for creative expression, skill development, and collaboration. Through the use of arts and crafts methodologies, participants are encouraged to share their experiences, traditions, and narratives, thereby fostering mutual respect and understanding among diverse groups. The project promotes integration, cultural appreciation, and aims to reduce barriers associated with racism, discrimination and isolation. The projects goal is work with over 100 individuals through the exhibition of collaborative artworks, which will be showcased at R-Space Gallery and potentially other community venues. Leveraging the success of previous outreach programs, particularly the Linen Biennale, "Patterns of Collaboration".
R-Space Gallery is committed to community development and accessibility in the arts. By bridging cultural divides and fostering dialogue through creative expression, Patterns of Collaboration project seeks to contribute to a more inclusive and harmonious society in Northern Ireland.
Robert Peters
Robert has successfully delivered community engagement programmes for R-Space Gallery in the recent past. He has many years experience in project management and innovative project design. He helped initiate The Creative Peninsula event that takes place in AND Council each year, carried out a Paul Hamlyn Foundation funded research project Interhuman which developed opportunities for participants with and without disability to spend creative time together learning skills in printmaking. He has also delivered intercultural projects such as Don’t Judge a Book and Disable my Label which sought to break down barriers between people from different cultural backgrounds. He has delivered programmes for Action Mental Health, Alzheimers Society, Cedar Foundation, North Down World Wide Women, Jigsaw NI, Fibromyalgia Support North Down and Ards, Positive Futures Ulster Museum, Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, FE McWilliam Gallery, Armagh Planetarium, Queen’s University Marine Lab, the National Trust, Borough Councils, over forty secondary schools across Northern Ireland and numerous primary schools.

Patterns of Collaboration
Community Project facilitated by Robert Peters
"Patterns of Collaboration" is an innovative initiative by R-Space Gallery and Artist and Facilitator Robert Peters designed to nurture community cohesion and celebrate cultural diversity through structured arts workshops. These workshops, scheduled from January 29th to March 31st, 2024, aim to engage 20 participants from all members of community in Northern Ireland.
The project focus is on embracing and bringing together all members of the community including all age groups and ethnic minorities to join, collaborate and converse. Discussing the sense of tradition and belonging, to create understanding. The project explore’s participants' cultural heritage through the lens of textile art, highlighting the historical significance of patterns in Ireland and beyond.
